AHMEDABAD: It is just the first day GU has started distributing MSc-IT and MBA forms and in just two and a half hours, 400 forms for MSc-IT and MBA courses were sold out. Though the toppers this year showed an inclination for the CA course, MBA is still on the favourite list of a large number of students, including many science students.
"Engineering is too mainstream these days.
Additionally, colleges like PDPU and Nirma have not yet started distributing forms. Therefore it is better to secure a seat in the MBA course", says Rimsha Aalam, a student who scored 85 per cent in science.
CA is undoubtedly the first choice of commerce students but for those who do not have much interest in accountancy opt for MBA. "Business studies interest me more than accountancy, so I have selected MBA" says Hitashi Khabrani who scored 86 per cent in commerce.
Similarly, Chinmay Fichadiya who wishes to join his family business says, "I have opted for MBA studies to get practical knowledge of business management. I am aware that this is the only course where I can get it in the undergraduate level. Doing my graduation and then pursuing MBA did not sound fruitful to me," says Fichadiya.
"I want to pursue my career in Information Technology but have cleared my HSC with commerce. Since I have got over 75 per cent, I want to try MSc-IT. My second choice is MBA," says Parth Pancholi.
